University of Ghana condemns clash between students of Commonwealth and Mensah Sarbah Halls

The University of Ghana has condemned the clash that occurred between students of Commonwealth and Mensah Sarbah Halls on Friday August 5th, and in the early morning hours of Saturday, August 6, 2022.

A statement by the Registrar, Mrs Emelia Agyei-Mensah, said efforts to identify the perpetrators are ongoing, and those found culpable of breaking national laws or University regulations, will be appropriately sanctioned.

It said Management assures the University community of its resolve to ensure that academic work and other activities proceed without hindrance, and of its commitment to safeguardpeace and stability on all campuses of the University. 

The two halls are known to have a bitter rivalry, which has resulted in numerous clashes over the years.

It is not clear yet, what sparked the violent clash.
