Volta region to hold vigil for victims of military helicopter crash

The Volta Regional Co-ordinating Council (VRCC) will on Sunday, August 10, 2025, hold a vigil in memory of the victims of the recent military helicopter crash.

The solemn event is scheduled to take place at Nfodjo Park, behind the STC Yard, starting at 5:00 p.m. and running until 9:00 p.m.

Among the deceased are notable figures including Minister for Defence Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Environment Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, Vice Chairman of the NDC Dr. Samuel Sarpong, former parliamentary candidate Samuel Aboagye, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Mane-Twum, and Sgt. Ernest Ampadu.

The VRCC has called on the public to join in paying their last respects to the fallen, describing the tragedy as a national loss that has deeply affected the Volta Region and the entire country.
