Entrepreneur, Engineer, and Author, Kwabena Obeng Darko has expressed that one’s financial health reflects their knowledge about money, given the economy we live in.

Speaking in an interview on the GTV breakfast show on May 2nd, 2024, he stated that people who often use the phrase “the love of money is the root of all evil” typically end up poor because the rich don’t think that way; they see money as a necessity.

He also added that to learn about money, one must desire it as a need. He emphasized that in Ghana, 80% of individuals have to build homes and buy cars with their own earned money. In such an environment, understanding money must be heightened.

“When you go outside Ghana, many people in so-called rich countries are supported to build houses, buy cars, and even attend school. When you’re unemployed, they provide financial assistance, but here in Ghana, who does that?”, he quizzed.

He added that the structure of our economy necessitates going beyond one’s salary. Adding that one needs multiple streams of income in order to navigate this current Ghanaian economy. He cited agriculture as one venture that any salaried worker can venture into in order to make additional money.

“If you have to cheat or lie to make money, then it means you don’t understand money.”

The fundamental principle is understanding that nobody is responsible for your finances, and your financial knowledge reflects how you handle money.
