The Daily Graphic calls for more attention to be given to the Youth in Afforestation programme, and commends the Forestry Commission for doing a good job with the programme. According to the paper, about 65,000 youth recruited under the programme have planted more than 10 million seedlings of different species across the country since July last year. This translates to 150,000 trees per person. The Graphic is hopeful conscious effort will be made to nurture the trees as they are planted to ensure resources are not wasted.

The Ghanaian Times extends its condolences to the families of the seven men from the Kumasi Zongo community who were mistaken to be armed robbers and gunned down by the Police. The paper commends residents of the community for showing considerable restraints in the face of pain they endured after their relatives were killed. The Times says although no amount of money can replace life, the families of the victims should accept the compensation from government in good faith. It urges the youth in the area not to be swayed into the path of recklessness so as to avoid being mistaken for armed robbers.
