2019 WAFU: Ghana pitted against Gambia in knock-out phase

Black Stars ‘B’ will face Gambia in the first phase of the 2019 WAFU Cup of Nations in Senegal on 28 September 2019.

The colourful event which took place in Dakar on Wednesday saw Maxwell Konadu’s men pitted against The Scorpions.

The tournament’s new format features a knock-out competition with the winners of phase one progressing to the cup competition, and the phase one losing teams competing in the plate competition.

Ghana won the inaugural 16-team tournament on home soil in 2017 and will be defending the title.

With a strong core to call on, the local Black Stars will be among the favourites to lift the title once more later this year.
