The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that the upcoming 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season will commence on September 12, 2025, and conclude by late May 2026. This decision underscores Ghana’s commitment to synchronizing its football calendar with FIFA’s international timetable, ensuring that all top-tier competitions finish before the highly anticipated 23rd FIFA World Cup in North America.

The timing of the league’s schedule reflects a broader vision to enhance player readiness and club preparedness for international tournaments.

By concluding the domestic season before the World Cup, Ghanaian clubs and players can focus on international duties without overlapping commitments, potentially increasing the quality of performance and reducing fixture congestion.

To facilitate a smooth season, the GFA has maintained a familiar match structure, with most Premier League fixtures scheduled on Sundays, complemented by midweek games for rescheduled and outstanding matches.

This format, similar to the previous season, aims to optimize matchday logistics and provide fans with consistent viewing experiences while giving players adequate recovery time between games.

Further reinforcing its commitment to transparency and strategic planning, the GFA’s Ordinary Congress is scheduled for August 12, 2025. During this gathering, crucial season plans, transfer windows and logistical arrangements will be finalized and communicated to stakeholders.

Early announcement of these dates is expected to enable clubs to plan preseason training, player acquisitions, and logistical operations effectively, setting the stage for an exciting campaign.
