The Daily Graphic calls on management of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) to prioritise efficiency and product integrity to help sustain the revival of the refinery. This will help reduce losses and further endear the refinery to oil traders for supply deals, similar to the one signed with BP oil, as well as be an evidence that the country has the requisite expertise to meet its petroleum needs. The Graphic says TOR has had its fair share of challenges as various attempts have been made to revive the refinery. The paper therefore commends government, the board and management of TOR for putting in place appropriate measures to earn the faith of BP oil.
The Ghanaian Times urges the public to pay attention to quality issues when purchasing products on the market as Christmas is fast approaching. According to the paper, adherence to quality products is important since it does not only guarantee health and safety but also ensures the environment is protected. The Times advises businessmen and women to desist from going in for sub-standard products of which the prices are usually reduced to entice consumers. The paper says the fight against this menace will be successful if there are collective efforts from all institutions and individuals.
The Daily Heritage appeals to the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) to up its game in clamping down on tax evaders. The paper asks the GRA to block all loopholes, recover all lost revenues and punish customs officers who fail to do their work well leading to revenue losses in the country. The Heritage reiterates the Commissioner General’s advice to the Authority to adopt new strategies in addressing the issue of their failure to achieve set target.
