The Daily Graphic believes proper engagement between students’ leaders and school authorities, strengthening of the local SRCs, recognition of the rights of students and security structures and friendly welcoming leadership styles are measures that could help curb students unrest in schools. The paper urges management of educational institutions to see students as equal partners and not to look down on them as children who do not have anything to bring to the table. This will enable any misconduct and discontent to be dealt with before it escalates into violence.

The Ghanaians Times urges the US and Ghana governments to get back to the negotiating table, over the US visa sanction since the two countries have already expressed their willingness to meet to find a lasting solution to the problem. The paper supports the view of commentators that Ghana’s treatment by the U.S appears to be harsh. It says it is regrettable that, the US has started implementing the sanction when Ghana had all along insisted that as a sovereign country, it had the duty and would continue to protect her nationals all over the world by ensuring that appropriate process were undertaken in issues relating to deportation of her citizens from other countries.
