The Ghana Education Service (GES) has revealed that 99 double-track schools have been taken off the system and restored to the traditional single-track arrangement.

This follows increased budgetary allocations to the Free SHS policy, supported by a dedicated source of funding.

GES Public Relations Officer, Daniel Fenyi, explained that the move will “ease congestion, improve academic planning, and provide a more conducive environment for teaching and learning.”

Government has also directed that, beginning 2025, all districts build Nursery, Primary, and Junior High Schools with resources from the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF), to expand access to quality basic education.
