The Institute of Public Relations, (IPR), has observed a decline in the Professional Public Relations space. This according to the Institute is as a result of the lack of adherence to professional values, lack of recognition of time, code of ethics and unprofessional relationships with media counterparts.

The Institute calls on its members to re-orient themselves and adhere to the highest standards of values and ethics demanded of them as professionals in Public Relations.

This is contained in a six point communique issued at the National Conference and 25th Annual General Meeting of the IPR in Winneba.

The  conference which was on the theme: “Deriving values from value — A test for corporate governance”, considered several issues on Communications and Public Relations, Corporate governance and the role of the practitioner.

The Institute said it is saddened that numerous institutions are collapsing due primarily to bad corporate governance issues and finds the situation unacceptable and calls upon public relations professionals to be more assertive and fulfill their role as the corporate conscience of their organisations.
