The Distrcit Chief Executive (DCE) for Nandom, Thaddeus Arkum Aasoglenang, has advised the people of the area to endeavor to notify the security agencies about strange and suspicious people in their communities.

He indicated that the notification will enble the security agencies to act appropriately in relation to the suspicious characters in those communities.

Mr. Aasoglenang said there is a Nantional Campaign dubbed “IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING” which is intended to make Ghanaians alert about their communal and personal security at all times.

The DCE gave the advice in Nandom at the end of the Second Sitting of the Second Assembly of the Nandom District Assembly.

Mr. Aasoglenang indicated that crime and terrorism are becoming a threat to the peace and security of the West African Sub-Region, and Ghana is not left out.

Nandom is one of the Districts in Ghana, which boarders Burkina Faso at the extreme North Western belt of the country.

Recently, there have been attacks by some extremist groups in Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso which have destabilized people in those areas.

Mr. Aasoglenang drummed home the need for everyone to be alert and take their personal security serious.

He said the recent arrest of a Burkinabe National at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Hamile which is about 15km away from Nandom is a wake up call.

He said even though there is relative calm in the District, the District Security Council (DISEC) is not relenting in its efforts in maintaining and promoting peace in the area.

Mr. Aasoglenang said the District Assembly through DISEC has instructed the District Police Command to step up District Wide Patrols to take the fight to miscreants to further uphold law and order in the communities.

“In the last two and half years, the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo led government, has invested immensely in retooling the police service and I am elated to say, Nandom has not been left out. The Nandom Police Service, has received three vehicles during the period”

He announced that the District Immigration Officers, have also commenced patrols within the District especially along the Black Volta to identify and register illegal migrants in the District.

This, he said is part of measures DISEC IS putting in place to ensure people are secured and free to carry out their daily activities.

He reminded Assembly members that after one year, no member has responded to the call to liaise with their chiefs to form neighborhood committees to be trained by the police to help combat crimes at the Community level.

Mr. Aasoglenang commended the Presiding Member, Mrs. Anacletta Viiru Naab, for ensuring that the Second Assembly was devoid of divisions and unnecessary heckling even though Members belonged to different social groups.

He said the Second Assembly upscaled its impartial in the deliberations of the house and hoped that it will be maintained.

The Presiding Member of the Assembly, Mrs Annacleta Viiru Naab, expressed gratitude to all the Assembly Members for being responsible to their constituents. She urged Assembly Members who will be re-elected to continue the good work.
