Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice has emphasized the importance of Thomas Partey’s return to the squad if the Gunners are to reach the UEFA Champions League final for the first time since 2006. With the team aiming to advance past Paris Saint-Germain, Rice highlighted that Partey’s performance will be crucial in overcoming the hurdle and securing a place in the final.
The Gunners are currently trailing after the first leg of the semifinal, having lost 1-0 to PSG thanks to Ousmane Dembele’s strike at the Emirates Stadium. To turn the tie around, Arsenal need a strong showing in the second leg, and Partey’s return from suspension is expected to provide a significant boost. The Ghanaian midfielder missed the initial encounter but is now set to play a key role in the decisive fixture.
Rice praised Partey’s composure on the pitch, describing him as a calming influence on the team. During a recent press conference, the England international stated, “Playing with Thomas, I’ve realised that one of the best things about him is how calm he is and the calmness he brings to the team. It’s really special to play with a player like him.” His leadership and stability are seen as vital for Arsenal’s chances of progressing further in the competition.
The 31-year-old, is expected to be available for the second leg, which could prove pivotal in their pursuit of a first Champions League final appearance in nearly two decades. His presence on the field is widely regarded as a key factor in Arsenal’s midfield strength and strategic stability.
Meanwhile, talks are ongoing between the club and Partey’s representatives regarding a contract extension, as his current deal approaches its conclusion. Securing his future at the club could be instrumental in Arsenal’s continued pursuit of European glory, especially if they manage to reach the final and contend for the trophy.
