Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren has called on his players to show courage and determination as they prepare to face European champions England in a high-profile friendly match.

The encounter is set for kickoff at 19:00 GMT at St Mary’s Stadium. Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Björkegren reflected on England’s recent dominant 8-0 victory over China, a team ranked much higher than Ghana in the FIFA women’s rankings.

He noted how fear affected China’s performance, saying, “If you are afraid to play against England, then you’re going to be destroyed, exactly what happened.”

The Swedish coach emphasized that the Black Queens must take a bolder approach to the game, trusting in their own strength and work ethic. “We need to attack the game differently. We believe in ourselves.

We know we have strong players who are ready to tackle, to work hard, to take every duel,” Björkegren said, underscoring the team’s ambition to seek victory despite the challenge.

Highlighting the unity within the squad, Björkegren said the team’s identity is rooted in hard work and big dreams. “You’re going to see a hard-working team. Whether it gives us a good result or not, we will see, but we’re going to do everything we can,” he added.

The Black Queens face a tough test against one of the world’s top teams, but under Björkegren’s leadership, they aim to approach the match with resilience and boldness, striving to make a strong impression on both the pitch and their fans.
