The Bono Regional Chief Imam, Alhaji Umar Abdul Kadir, has called on Ghanaians to adhere to the safety protocols put out by the President and the Ghana Health Service to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

According to him, even though the breaking of the fast could not be marked in the usual way due to the outbreak of COVID-19, Muslims should observe the day in their homes and pray for the country to overcome COVID-19.

Alhaji Kadir was speaking in an interview as Muslims around the world observe Eid ul-Fitr today to break their 30 days fast.

This year due to the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, Muslims instead of gathering in huge numbers to perform Eid prayers and greet each other are having to stay home for the Eid Prayers, with many creating prayer spaces in their homes.

At the Bawere family home at Abetifi, near Sunyani, Zongo, the head of the family, Abdullai Bawere told Radio Ghana that due to COVID-19, they observed the prayers at home to protect themselves. He urged Muslims and the public to adhere to the safety protocols of COVID-19.

At the Palace of the Bono Regional Chief Imam, Alhaji Umar Abdul Kadir commended President Akufo Addo for the timely updates in the fight against Covid19.

Alhaji Kadir prayed for the country and called on Muslims to use the day to pray for the safety of Ghanaians.

On the December 7th elections, he urged Ghanaians to go to the polls devoid of violence to maintain the peace the country enjoys.
