More than 400 Civil Society Organisations (CSO’s) in Accra are calling on the President to recall the Auditor General, Daniel Domelevo from leave.

Mr. Domelevo was last week directed to take his 123 days annual leave which was subsequently increased to 167 days.

The directive generated a lot of controversy with some calling on the President to rescind his decision.

At a news conference in Accra, the CSO’s which included Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII), CDD, ACILA said the action by the President against Mr. Domelevo is a huge discouragement to public office holders who desire to stand up and be counted.

The CSO’s questioned why the Auditor General was not asked to take his leave from next year ahead of his retirement?

They also asked why the President did not force the Auditor General to take his mandatory leave in 2017, 2018 and 2019 if he has been aware of these complaints by the Board.

The CSO’s are asking all to join in the crusade to bring back the Auditor General.

The crusade is under the hashtag ‘Bring Back Domelevo’ and hashtag ‘Let Institutions Work.’

Dr. Kojo Asante is representing more than 400 CSO’s calling for a recall of the Auditor General from leave.
