The President, John Dramani Mahama, has officially sworn in Matilda Asante-Asiedu as the Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG).
The ceremony took place at the Jubilee House in Accra and was attended by members of the central bank’s board and senior government officials.
President Mahama said the appointment is part of efforts to rebuild state institutions and promote merit, transparency, and good governance.
“This is not just a routine ceremony,” the President said. “It is a signal of our commitment to restore professionalism and trust in one of Ghana’s most important institutions.”
He praised the central bank’s current leadership for helping the economy recover, noting that inflation is slowing down and the Ghana cedi has strengthened — signs of improving economic stability.
President Mahama welcomed Mrs. Asante-Asiedu and commended her experience in banking and reforms. He said she is joining the Bank of Ghana at a critical time and urged her to lead with integrity, clear communication, and strong decision-making.
He also reminded everyone that the central bank must stay connected to real economic challenges. “The numbers we talk about represent real lives,” he said.
