The Chamber of Petroleum Consumers (COPEC) is calling on the government to immediately reverse recent increases in fuel prices in the country.

There are reports that, some of the leading Oil Marketing Companies across the country have increased pump prices effective September 1, 2019.

According to COPEC, pump prices have shot up from the previous five point one nine Ghana Cedis per litre to about five point three nine Ghana Cedis  for a litre representing a three point seven percent jump in previous figures at the pumps.

COPEC attributed the recent fuel hike to the increase in some components of the energy sector levies.

A statement signed by the Executive Secretary of COPEC, Duncan Amoah, insisted that the reversal of the fuel increases, to an extent, will reduce the plight of petroleum users.
