The Ministry of Finance under the leadership of Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson says the Government of Ghana has successfully paid US$349.52 million to settle its Eurobond debt obligations, through the Bank of Ghana, on Thursday, July 3, 2025.
In an official statement, the Ministry of Finance confirmed that the payment was part of Ghana’s commitment to meeting its debt service obligations after concluding its Eurobond debt restructuring in October 2024.
With this latest payment, the government has now fully met all scheduled Eurobond debt payments for the year 2025.
The Ministry provided a breakdown of payments made since the restructuring:
- In October 2024, the government paid US$475.60 million, covering initial obligations under the new debt terms.
- In January 2025, another US$349.52 million was paid.
- The latest July 2025 payment also amounts to US$349.52 million.
- This brings the total Eurobond debt serviced so far to US$1.17 billion.
According to the Ministry, Ghana is expected to make further Eurobond payments totalling US$1.41 billion in 2026.
Dr. Ato Forson said the timely payments reflect the government’s strong commitment to macroeconomic stability, responsible debt management, and constructive dialogue with international creditors.
The Finance Ministry added that this move is likely to improve Ghana’s credit ratings, boost investor confidence in the country’s economic recovery programme, and support the stability of the foreign exchange market through better reserve and liquidity management by the Bank of Ghana.
