The Cape Coast Teaching Hospital has with immediate effect suspended all elective surgeries till further notice.

A statement signed by the Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Eric Ngyedu, explained that some specific elective surgeries may be performed at the discretion of the surgeons.

Specialist OPD service would only be on appointment basis.

According to the statement, some of the specialist clinics would be re-scheduled to the afternoons to avoid congestion at the OPD.

The hospital’s entry points have also been restricted, leaving only the main entrance. This is to determine which cases need urgent attention.

The nurses will also ensure that queuing of patients at the OPD is in consonance with social distancing and other directives and protocols.
