Girls in the Asamankese Presby basic A, B, and C schools in the Eastern Region have received free sanitary pads from the Cocoa Marketing Company Limited Ladies Club to help promote personal hygiene and also help them to stay in school during their menstrual period as the world mark Menstrual Hygiene Day today.

The President of the Club, Gloria Boatema Andoh said the donation forms part of their corporate social responsibility to help girls in the cocoa growing areas.

She also took the girls through personal hygiene and advised them to keep themselves clean during their menstrual period and stay away from early sex since it will jeopardize their educational ambition. Madam Andoh urged them not see menstruation as an abomination but a natural process for procreation.

The Headteacher of Presby Basic A School, Georgina Gyamfua Asare thanked the Club for the gesture and appealed to them to make it a continuous act to help the girls stay in school during their menstrual period.

The girls thanked the Club for the gesture adding that it will help them to stay in school and focused on their studies.

Menstruation is a natural part of the female reproductive cycle, marked by a monthly flow of blood. However, many young girls have limited knowledge about the process. Menstrual Hygiene Day was established to raise awareness, educate girls, and promote proper hygiene to help them stay clean, healthy, and confident during their periods.

The club created pad bank at the school to help the girls when they come to school without any.
