A District Court “B” in Sunyani has implemented travel restrictions on Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, the former Employment and Labour Relations Minister and owner of Nsoatreman, as part of his bail conditions.

The ruling was made during a court appearance, where Baffour-Awuah, was accompanied by two other suspects, Agyemang Duah Owusu, his bodyguard, and Joseph Kyeremeh.

The court, overseen by Judge Eric Daning, has barred Baffour-Awuah from leaving the Sunyani Municipality without prior judicial approval.

The legal actions stem from a tragic incident that occurred on February 2, 2025, during a violent altercation at the Nsoatre Professor Amoah Koromansah II Stadium. This incident resulted in the death of Francis Frimpong, a dedicated supporter of Kumasi Asante Kotoko FC.

The clash erupted during a match between Nsoatreman FC, a team owned and financed by Baffour-Awuah, and Asante Kotoko, escalating into chaos that led to the loss of life.

Baffour-Awuah and Kyeremeh are facing serious charges of “abetment to commit a crime, to wit murder” under Sections 20(1) and 46 of the Criminal Offenses Act 1960 (Act 29).

Both individuals were granted bail set at GH¢500,000, requiring one surety each to justify the bail amount. As part of the conditions, Baffour-Awuah has also been ordered to surrender his passport to the court registry for 14 days, further restricting his mobility during this period.
