An Accra High Court has ruled that former National Signals Bureau (NSB) boss, Kwabena Adu-Boahen, must stay in the custody of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) for seven working days. This is to allow the Attorney General enough time to prepare witness statements for the case.‎

‎The court has postponed the case to May 13, 2025, for further instructions.‎

‎At the last hearing, lawyers for Adu-Boahene and the other accused persons asked the court to keep them on their current bail terms. However, the Attorney General objected to Adu-Boahene being granted bail, accusing him of trying to interfere with witnesses in the case.‎

‎Because of this, the court met in private with lawyers from both sides to listen to their arguments. After considering all views, the judge decided Adu-Boahene should be kept in custody for seven days.‎

‎His lawyer, Atta Akyea, asked for weekends to be included in the seven days, but the judge refused, saying the Attorney General’s office does not work on weekends.

Deputy Attorney General, Srem Sai, also disagreed with the request.‎

‎The judge explained that one of the witnesses is currently outside the country, and the state needs more time to prepare.

‎Adu-Boahen and his wife, Angela Adjei Boateng, have been charged with corruption involving millions of Ghana cedis. They are accused of stealing public funds, money laundering, and causing financial loss to the state. Two others—Mildred Donkor and Advantage Solutions Limited—are also facing charges.‎

‎The charges follow a $7 million deal Adu-Boahene signed with an Israeli company, ISC Holdings Limited, for cyber defence software. Prosecutors say he moved about GHS 49 million (about $7 million) from NSB accounts to his personal bank accounts and falsely claimed it was payment for the software.
