COVID-19 reveals need to invest more in research for Ghana’s growth

The need for government to invest in research and development has again been brought to the fore following the role scientific research in fighting COVID 19.

Stakeholders in health attribute the success being chalked up in the management of the virus to aggressive testing by research institutions.

The National Chairman of NGO’s in Health, Dr Gabriel Bernaku in an interview with Ibrahim Kwarteng said investing more in research will help to sustain and grow the economy.

He was however worried about stigmatization that treated patients face, adding that this has the tendency of worsening the issue.

He called for investment in psychological interventions.
