Ghana’s Deputy Minister for Health, Prof. Dr. Grace Ayensu-Danquah, met with leaders from KPMG to discuss collaboration on health priorities during a courtesy call at the Ministry of Health.
The Deputy Minister stressed the need for partnerships between government and private/public institutions to improve healthcare in Ghana. Key areas of focus include upgrading health facilities and building capacity, ensuring adequate hospital supplies, and enhancing welfare and training for health workers.

The Deputy Minister highlighted the government’s “Mahamacares” initiative (Ghana Medical Trust Fund), aimed at supporting management of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) in areas not fully covered by the National Health Insurance Authority.
These efforts align with the government’s goal of providing more inclusive and sustainable healthcare. She therefore called on KPMG to explore avenues to tie into government’s agenda in building a resilient and efficient health system.

KPMG’s Country Managing Partner, Mr. Andrew Akoto, led the team and expressed interest in collaborating with the Ministry of Health on strategic priorities.
KPMG aims to help Ghana address evolving health challenges like NCDs, strengthen primary healthcare, and support Universal Health Coverage through the National Health Insurance Authority.
The meeting allowed both parties to explore ways to work together to improve healthcare for Ghanaians.
