Addo Kufuor Jnr donates ICT equipment to Prempeh College

The Regional Vice president for Government Relations of Newmont Africa, Mr Kwame Addo Kufuor Junior, is a leading a new Information Communication Technology (ICT) drive at his Alma Mater, Prempeh College in Kumasi to catch up with the rest of the world as the school marks 70 years on Saturday.

Donations

For a start, he has donated 10 desktops to the school’s computer Laboratory with plans to provide practical teaching aids and techniques to study the subject with ease.

Wednesday’s presentation by Mr Addo Kufuor Junior was the first in the series of equipment donations to augment that of the school’s authorities as well as some old Students.

World Robofest

Mr Addo Kufuor Junior, the immediate past president of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, congratulated the school for making it to the World Robofest final urging them to grab the ultimate prize.

The school is chasing its second silverware at the world event, having won it four years ago, followed by two other Ghanaian schools, Opoku Ware and Mamfie SHS.

Essence of ICT

Mr Addo Kufuor Junior said ICT was driving growth and development throughout the world over by supporting effective learning.

“The introduction of computers in schools has yielded positive outcomes and needs to be sustained,” he said.

The once Vice president, Administration, AngloGold Ashanti, urged the students to add ICT to whatever course they will be offering in future because it remains the catalyst to turning economies around.

He called on the “Seniors,” as students of Prempeh College are called to “push hard to reclaim the National Science and Maths Quiz,” which it won two editions ago.

“Remember these three things as you pursue higher education: God-fearing, discipline and hard work. They hold the key to your success,” he said.

Mr Addo Kufuor Junior called on students to select any of the astute olds students in key positions to mentor them to become great personalities.

On Saturday, the mining expert will join President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, former president John Agyekum Kufuor and other great personalities at a grand durbar to mark 70 years of Prempeh College.
