The Ghana Education Service (GES), has cautioned schools across the country against charging students or parents any unauthorized fees under the Free SHS policy.

In a statement, GES stressed that it has not approved or sanctioned any school to collect money “under any name or in any form” from students and parents, urging the public to disregard reports suggesting otherwise.

According to the Service, any school found demanding money under the guise of feeding fees or other charges is acting unlawfully and without the approval of GES.

GES reaffirmed government’s commitment to sustaining and improving the Free Senior High School policy, describing attempts to undermine the programme through false information or illegal fee collection as an act against the national interest.

The Service further advised parents and students who are asked to pay feeding fees or any unauthorized charges to report the matter to GES authorities for immediate investigation and action.
