President John Dramani Mahama has announced an increase in the daily feeding grant for students in public special schools from GH¢8 to GH¢15.

Delivering his second State of the Nation Address in Parliament in Friday, February 27, the President said the increment is aimed at better addressing the nutritional and health needs of learners with disabilities.

“Government has also increased the daily feeding grants for students in public special schools from eight cedis per day to 15 cedis per day,” he stated.

President Mahama explained that the intervention forms part of a broader commitment to strengthen support systems for learners with special needs across the country.

He further revealed that the amended GETFund Act has established a dedicated and sustainable funding framework to implement free education for learners with special needs beginning in the 2026 academic year.

According to the President, the increase in the feeding grant and the new funding framework are designed to promote equity, improve nutrition and ensure sustained support for learners with disabilities within Ghana’s education system.
