The Minister of State in Charge of Tertiary Education, Prof Kwesi Yankah, has bemoaned the lack of Academic publishing firms of International standards in Africa.

The situation he says, puts the continent at risk of losing its academia to the west as they go in search of publishing firms of higher standards to share knowledge and research with the public.

Prof. Kwesi Yankah was speaking in Accra at the launch of a book titled “Nation Building, Seven notable Ghanaians”.

He said the situation where the lives and achievements of certain Ghanaians are not documented deprives future leaders of role models.

The 316 page book is a collection of biographical essays on the contributions of 7 unsung heroes to the country.

They are Oyeeman Wereko Ampem II, Professor Florence Abena Dolphyne, Okyeame Kwadwo Boafo Akufo and Alhaji Yakubu Tali.

The rest are Mr Saka Acquaye, Dr. Oku Ampofo and Justice Annie Jiagge.

It was authored by 14 individuals from the Institute of African studies and the Department for history of the University of Ghana, Legon.
