Teachers across the country are set to benefit from major reforms announced by the Ghana Education Service (GES).
According to the Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Education Service, Daniel Fenyi, more than 30,000 diploma teachers who pursued further studies via distance, sandwich, or weekend programmes have now been placed on the PS scale, receiving corresponding salary adjustments.
In addition, teachers are now eligible for promotion to the director rank, while the controversial Teacher Licensure Exam — which required trainees to return to campus months after completing training — has been cancelled.
The GES said the reforms are part of government’s efforts to “improve teacher motivation, reduce bottlenecks, and strengthen the teaching profession.”
