Sankana- Nadwoli Kaleo – Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has commissioned an ultra-modern ICT facility at the Sankana Cluster of Schools in the Nadowli-Kaleo District of the Upper West Region to boost digital learning and expand opportunities for pupils, particularly girls.

The fully furnished, air-conditioned centre is expected to transform teaching and learning in the Sankana community, where access to practical ICT education has long been limited, especially for pupils at the Girls Model School.

At the commissioning ceremony, teachers and pupils expressed appreciation to the Vice President, describing the intervention as life-changing and a major step toward improving digital literacy.

For many learners, access to computers and hands-on ICT training had remained out of reach. The new facility marks a turning point, providing modern computers, reliable connectivity, and supporting amenities, including washrooms, to enhance the learning environment.

District Chief Executive for Nadowli-Kaleo, Mary Haruna, said the project goes beyond infrastructure, describing it as a tool to empower young people—especially girls—to compete in an increasingly digital world.
The Headteacher of Sankana D.A. Junior High School also welcomed the initiative, noting that it will significantly improve ICT teaching and learning outcomes across the cluster.

Students who spoke at the event expressed excitement about the new facility, saying it will help them build skills and confidence to pursue careers in science and technology.

The initiative forms part of broader government efforts to expand equitable access to quality education and ensure that no child is left behind in Ghana’s growing digital economy.
