After President Mahama tasked the Interior Minister, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak for periodical reports on the 2020 and 2024 election violences that took place, the minister has assured Ghanaians the reports gathered will not be left to accumulate dust but go a long way to help bring the perpetrators to book.
Addressing the media on the 2020 and 2024 election violence on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 in Accra, he stated that investigations on the violence which claimed 15 lives and had over 40 people injured are ongoing however taking a lot time due to the need for detailed work.
According to him, President Mahama deemed it fit to periodically update the country on the progress made.
He further assured that the perpetrators of the violence will be appropriately dealt with as measures were being put in place to ensure that.
“I have met with members of the CID department and encouraged them to take action without fear or favor as they have mine and President Mahama’s backing”, he said.
He added that as part of measures to bring Justice to whom Justice is due, about 50 military men have been interrogated by the Special Investigative Taskforce showing that “we really want to bring Justice to this case”.
He added that reports were been sent to the Attorney General for advice and the need for compensation for the families involved.
The Minister also recommended that all security officers be trained together for future elections stating that gadgets should be given to all not senior officers to enhance effective communication on election grounds. He assured further update on the 12 cases identified by the taskforce.
