The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has issued a strong warning to the public not to drink Kings Orange Flavoured Liqueur and Jupiter 1990, saying the two alcoholic drinks are dangerous for human health.

According to a press release from the FDA, these drinks contain marijuana (cannabis) extracts and are unregistered. They are believed to be illegally produced by Famude Catering Services, a company based in the Ashanti Region.

The FDA explained that Kings Orange Flavoured Liqueur was once registered in 2022. However, during a routine check in July 2023, tests showed it had traces of marijuana. Following this discovery, the FDA took several actions: Closed down the Famude Catering Services facility, cancelled the company’s license and referred the case to the Suntresu District Police for further investigations and possible court action

The FDA is urging the public to avoid drinking these products and report any sale or distribution to the nearest FDA office.
