Fire broke out at Maaha Beach Resort in the Ellembelle District of Ghana’s Western Region, causing significant damage to several beachfront structures. The blaze reportedly originated at the neighboring Vision Beach Resort, starting in the kitchen area before spreading rapidly through the front desk and into parts of Maaha Beach Resort.
Several beachfront structures, including guest accommodations near the main pool, were destroyed in the inferno.
An eyewitness reported that a fire tender from the nearby Atuabo Gas Processing Plant was unable to intervene due to incompatibility between the chemicals used in their firefighting system and the nature of the blaze.
Additional firefighting teams were dispatched from Axim and surrounding areas; however, delays in response allowed the flames to consume more property before the fire was eventually brought under control.
As of now, no official statement has been released regarding the cause of the fire or any potential injuries. Authorities are expected to conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of fire.
