The 24th President of Liberia who governed from 2006 to 2018, Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, is advocating for more women to be placed at the top-level leadership.

According to the Former Liberian leader getting more women at top-level leadership in all sectors will bring equity and equal opportunity for all.

Madam Johnson Sirleaf, speaking in an interview on an Accra-based Citi FM, explained that most times decisions affecting women and children are taken by people (men) who may not understand the issues better.

She maintained that issues affecting women and children are better understood by women and thus they can proffer the best solutions to deal with the problems.

“I think when we have more women in top leadership positions, we will see laws and policies that are going to ensure that there is full equity and equal opportunity for women” She added.

The Former Liberian leader is, therefore, urging decision-making bodies especially political leaders to ensure that there are deliberate and conscious policies put in place to enable more women to be in the top-level leadership positions.
