Following successful initiatives in the Volta, Central, and Western regions, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has began its Talent Identification Programme in the Eastern Region from May 12 to May 18, 2025. The program aims to extend its reach and continue discovering promising football talents across the country, reinforcing Ghana’s long-term development goals.
The activities will take place in two districts: Koforidua from May 12 to 14 and Somanya from May 16 to 18. These locations were selected to maximize accessibility and impact, providing opportunities for local coaches, trainers, and young players to benefit from the program’s resources and expertise.
The initiative is focused on training key personnel involved in grassroots football, including Physical Education tutors, Colts coaches, district coordinators, and aspiring coaches.
Participants will learn essential coaching principles, talent identification techniques, development strategies and scouting skills, all aimed at strengthening the foundation of Ghana’s football talent pipeline.
In addition to the training seminars, a football festival will be organized for basic school pupils. This event will give young players the opportunity to showcase their skills in a competitive environment and catch the attention of scouts for potential selection into junior national teams or GFA academies, opening pathways to professional football careers.
The GFA’s Talent Identification Programme remains a vital part of its long-term strategy to unearth and nurture football talent nationwide. By investing in grassroots development, the association hopes to secure Ghana’s future success on the international stage and continue producing world-class players.
