GFA launches Ghana Football  School Initiative

The Ghana Football Association, GFA, has launched its Football School initiative in collaboration with top level institutions, including the University of Ghana (UG), the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), University of Professional Studies Accra (UPSA), the Sunyani Technical University and the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS).

The Ghana Football School, a capacity building and skill training wing of the Ghana Football Association was officially launched on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 in Accra.

According to the President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, the initiative is aimed at building the capacity of individuals involved in the various facets of the Ghana Football ecosystem. The initiative is to collaboratively bring together all stakeholders in the Ghanaian football fraternity for a beneficial purpose.

President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku launched the programme with support from 1982 Africa Cup of Nations winner Samuel Opoku Nti and Executive Council Members Dr. Tony Aubynn and Nana Sarfo Oduro. Others included General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo (Esq.), Technical Director Bernhard Lippert and Director of Coaching Education Professor Joseph Kwame Mintah.

This new development comes after the Federation for International Football Associations, FIFA approved Ghana’s request to implement the FIFA Football for Schools initiative a month ago for students between the ages  of 10-14 years.
