Ghana Police launches bi-annual journal

The Accra Regional Police Command has launched its maiden bi-annual journal dubbed: “Police Diary Focus on Accra Region”.

The publication, which is the brainchild of the Public Affairs Directorate of the Command, is aimed at providing a more formidable interface between the police and the public.

The publication provides cutting-edge information on basic policing, major police operations by the Command, public awareness creation, projects & partnerships, major crime trends among others.

The colourful launching ceremony brought together officers and men of the command, other sister security agencies, partners: Goil, OLAM, Yazz as well as some second cycle institutions.

Speaking to journalists after the launch, the Public Relations Officer of the Accra Regional Police Command, DSP Effia Tenge said the pioneering move was to build a strong bond between the police and the public.

“We do a lot of community engagement on daily basis. As a result, we think about other innovative ways of reaching out to the public we serve. We are of the strong believe that fighting crime is a shared responsibility. In doing so, we want to publish our own stories based on the perception of police practices and standard policing,” she added

DSP Tenge who is the editor of the Police Diary said, the journal will also focus on building public consciousness on security through education.

She said the command “will look at educating the public. We will create a sense of security, we need to think security, we need to act security and also we need to feel the security around us.”

The Public Relations Department also indicated its willingness to partner other media organization, media practitioners and other organizations to enhance the continuous production of quality content.

In his address, the Accra Regional Commander, DCOP Fredrick Adu Anim commended the Public Relations Department led by DSP Effia Tenge and her team for orchestrating an idea which has materialized within a short period.

The commander also assured that the endeavour will receive maximum support from his outfit.

This, he said formed part of the overall transformation agenda of the Ghana Police Service.
