The Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Ghana, Khalid Bin Jabor Al-Mesallam, has paid a courtesy call on Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, in Accra. The meeting held on Thursday, June 11, 2025 aims at strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations, particularly in the area of education.
In a cordial and constructive dialogue, both dignitaries explored opportunities to deepen cooperation between Ghana and Qatar.
Ghana’s Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu emphasized the importance of fostering stronger ties between their respective Ministries of Education to enhance academic collaboration and institutional development.
A major highlight of the meeting was the Minister’s announcement of a landmark initiative to establish an Islamic Medical School in the Northern Region of Ghana. He extended an invitation to the Qatar Education Foundation to support the project.
The facility, which will also serve as a teaching hospital for the University for Development Studies (UDS), is expected to significantly boost medical education and expand healthcare access in underserved areas of the country.
Ambassador Al-Mesallam welcomed the initiative with enthusiasm and reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to supporting Ghana’s development efforts.
“It is very important for us as a State of Qatar that we explore the opportunity with the industry to manage the realisation between the two countries,” he said.
