Ghana ready to host 2019 Africa Climate Week

The Deputy Minister of Environment, Science Technology and Innovation, Mrs Patricia Appiagyei says Ghana is ready to host the 2019 Africa Climate Week.
She said the country has already set up a planning committee and will through the event promote its rich tourist attractions.
The committee comprises of the environment, transport, energy, forestry, and tourism sectors.
She noted that through the event, countries will be exposed to more climate related issues and discuss how they are implementing their NDC’S.

The Director, Sustainable Development Mechanisms of the UN Climate Change Secretariat, James Graber, announced at the ongoing climate change conference in Katowice, Poland, that Ghana will from March 18-22, 2019 host the event.
The idea is to create a platform for countries on the continent to listen to how countries are implementing their Nationally Determined Contributions, NDC’S.
He said similar events will be held in a Latin American and Asia- Pacific regions in the course of next year.
This he noted will bring the post Paris Agreement closer to the national level for its successful implementation.
