Ghana to provide leadership in West Africa- President Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says Ghana will continue to provide leadership  within West Africa on how its citizens can live together in solitary and develop a decent civilization.

Speaking at the Jubilee House in Accra when the Songhai Community in Ghana paid a courtesy on him, President Akufo-Addo urged them to ensure the challenges in Mali are not exported into the country.

He noted that the problems in West Africa can be addressed if its citizens  are  bond together.

The delegation of the Songhai community led by its Paramount Chief,  Chief  Amadu Fatahu Amadu Alhasan Maiga was at the Presidency to among others introduce its Chief to the President.

The Songhai Community in Ghana which traces its roots to Mali became part of the Country’s history in the 13th century.

In Ghana the Songhais are mostly in the oil industry particularly establishing small petrol stations and oil depots mostly in the rural areas.

President Akufo-Addo acknowledged the key role  the Songhai Community played the socio economic development of the country.

He asked them to continue to live as one Community in brotherhood and solidarity.  He charged  them to use their links to ensure challenges in Mali are not exported in to the Country. 

Deputy Secretary of the Community, Swadiq Mohammed Huzaif, said they will continue to abide by the laws of Ghana.

They later presented a white smock with the Songhai logo on it to the President.
