The Government has welcomed the renewed diplomatic rapprochement between Europe and Iran aimed at de-escalating tensions and bringing an end to the ongoing hostilities between Israel and Iran.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday, June 20, 2025, Ghana called the diplomatic initiative a vital step and encouraged the international community to support the process. The government reaffirmed its long-standing position that sincere and genuine diplomatic engagement is the most viable, pragmatic, and humane approach to resolving conflicts.
As chair of the governing board of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Ghana highlighted its consistent advocacy for dialogue and diplomatic pathways in addressing international disputes. The statement noted that Ghana has always championed peaceful solutions that take into account the concerns of all stakeholders.
The government further urged Israel to reconsider its stance and actively participate in the ongoing diplomatic discussions, emphasizing that the devastating impact of the conflict is being felt across the globe. It warned that any further escalation will only worsen the already dire consequences for the international community.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry reiterated Ghana’s commitment to peace, diplomacy, and constructive engagement as the surest route to lasting resolution.
