Ghanaian gospel artist, Queendalyn Yurglee, also known as Queen Darlene has opened up about her musical journey, recent achievements, and the spiritual experiences that continue to guide her ministry.
Speaking in an interview with GTV breakfast show, Queendalyn revealed that she recently travelled to South Africa where she was honoured with the Klima Award for Most Promising Artist in Africa. She explained that she first discovered the awards after seeing a random flyer on social media last year, but did not expect to be part of it.
Later, she received a notification showing she had been nominated for two categories. “I just reposted the flyer and went on with my work,” she said. Coincidentally, she had a ministration in Pretoria the same weekend the awards were being held in Johannesburg. Her team reached out to the organizers, and she attended the event after her ministration.
Queendalyn described the moment she won the award as humbling. “Sitting there with people from all over Africa, it reminded me of the promises God made to me as a child. I try to stay grounded and focused on God’s work. Everything else is a blessing added to it.”
Queendalyn also spoke about her upcoming album Clouds of Glory, which is yet to be released. Four songs from the project are already out and receiving strong support from churches and gospel music lovers.
One of the standout songs, Omewoya, features Nigerian gospel star Judikay. She explained that the collaboration was directed by God. “While preparing the album, I heard the Holy Spirit say ‘Judikay’. I didn’t even know her personally,” she said.
Queendalyn explained that although an attempt to meet Judikay’s former record label in Lagos didn’t work out, the connection happened unexpectedly a year later when a friend asked her to help arrange accommodations for a couple visiting Ghana who turned out to be Judikay and her husband.
According to her, she eventually reached out, and Judikay accepted the collaboration after praying about it. “She told me God said she should work with me personally,no managers and no team. She even paused her own project to do this,” Queendalyn shared.
Queendalyn added that Judikay was flown into Ghana quietly, and the two recorded the song and its video in a single day. Fans were excited when the song was released, with many surprised that the Nigerian singer had travelled to Ghana for the project.
She said the collaboration has also boosted her streaming numbers, especially in Nigeria. “Beyond the music, we now have a beautiful, godly sisterly relationship. And yes, the numbers are working,” she said.
The inspiration behind Aiyiyi, a thanksgiving song on the album. According to her, is also a reflective piece that expresses deep gratitude to God for His goodness.
