Government has lifted the suspension placed on the Ghana Manganese Company.

This follows a crunch meeting between management of Ghana Manganese Company, the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources and the Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation  as well as officials of the Minerals Commission.

Government earlier this  week ordered a total shutdown of Ghana Manganese Company following huge financial lose and non compliance of rules in the operation of the company.

This follows an Audit of the operations of the company.

Ghana is said to have lost Twelve-point eight-million dollars ($12.8m) in additional royalty due to lack of transparency in the operations of the company.

The country also lost 79 million dollars in corporate taxes and loss of dividends declared was six- point- one million dollars.

A  statement issued by the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources Kwaku Asumah-Cheremeh said management of Ghana Manganese has shown good faith following two separate meetings to work with government towards amicable resolution, including a joint manning of the weigh bridge located at the mine and tonnages loaded unto ships to guarantee accurate computation of revenue.

Mr. Asumah-Cheremeh, assured Ghanaians that efforts are being made to protect the interest of all employees, local contractors and the state.
