The Deputy Minister for Finance, Thomas Ampem Nyarko, has reaffirmed the government of Ghana’s commitment to completing the University of Engineering and Agricultural Science at Bunso in the Eastern Region, despite the country’s current economic constraints.
Speaking during a meeting with the Korean Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Kyongsig Park, Mr. Nyarko acknowledged the economic challenges facing the nation but stressed that bold policy interventions outlined in the national budget would help restore economic stability and progress.
He thanked the Korean government for its continued support, particularly in the areas of education and agriculture, and assured that the Bunso university project remains high on the government’s development agenda.

“We recognise the importance of this institution to our national development agenda, and even though we are in a tight space, government will do all it can to ensure its completion,” Mr. Nyarko stated.
The university, which is expected to drive innovation and capacity-building in engineering and agricultural science, is one of several key initiatives aimed at transforming Ghana’s human capital and agricultural productivity.
For his part, Ambassador Park reaffirmed Korea’s commitment to supporting Ghana’s development, noting that Korea’s own transformation was anchored in strong investments in human capital.

He also cited ongoing collaboration in agricultural modernisation, particularly in irrigation, and expressed confidence that outstanding financial issues would soon be resolved to enable deeper cooperation.
The meeting underscored the strength of Ghana-Korea bilateral relations, with both parties pledging to enhance collaboration in priority sectors to drive sustainable development.
