The General Overseer of the Lord’s Pentecostal Church International Apostle Richard Boafo has asked government to consider the involvement of parents in the proposed implementation of the Comprehensive Sexuality Education in future.

This is because education on Sexuality is a sole responsibility of parents and not teachers. He said Ghana is not a communist state hence children belong to parents and not the state. Apostle Boafo said this at the inauguration of the Lakeside Estate branch of the church in Accra, where people in academia were encouraged to follow the tenets of Christ and evangelise to win souls for the kingdom of God.

The inauguration of the Lakeside Estate Branch of the church brings to 150 the number of branches across the country, with foreign branches in Togo, Nigeria, Liberia,Gambia, South Africa, United Kingdom and the United States of America. The two storey edifice was constructed by Rev. Dr. Chris Sokpor and his wife Rev. Dr. Mrs Edem Sokpor three years ago, upon their return to Ghana after eleven years in Liberia.

The General Overseer of the Church, Apostle Richard Boafo commended executives of the church for their commitment to ensuring the realization of the project. He commented on the controversial Comprehensive Sexuality Education policy. He said

” to teach our children about sexuality is important but let us leave that to parents. In this country children belong to parents first of all, before the state comes in”

The Pastor in Charge of the church, Rev. Dr. Chris Sokpor encouraged professionals and individuals in academia to focus more on God’s work and evangelise to win souls for Christ.

He explained that “Christianity is for all…..our (the church) belief is to use all what God has given us to serve and win souls for him”.

The church plans to undertake developmental projects in future as part of its social responsibilities to the country.
