Gov’t to resource police with basic needs -W/North Commander

Government is to resource the police with some of its basic needs to enable them discharge their duties effectively and efficiently.

It has currently imported vehicles for distribution to the regions, divisions and districts to help increase the highway patrols to minimize the robberies and also provide adequate security to the public to enhance peace and tranquillity.

The  Western North Regional Police Commander, DCOP Kwadwo Otchere Boapea, announced this at his maiden meeting with the Divisional, Districts and Unit commanders in the region at Sefwi Wiawso, the Regional capital.

He advised them not to meddle in chieftaincy or politics and remain neutral in the discharge of their duties as the profession demands.

DCOP Otchere Boapea urged them  also to cooperate with the Municipal and District Chief Executives in the region to develop the area as it is new and facing some teething problems.

He further called for their support to administer the region since he is new to the area.

The Commander also cautioned the policemen against indulging in any acts that  will soil the image of the Ghana Police Service.

In his welcome address, the Sefwi Wiawso Divisional Commander, ACP Peter Abillah, described their maiden encounter with the regional commander as very fruitful and promised to help put the strategies spelt out in place to work hard to achieve the goals and aspirations of the service.

Issues raised by the officers at the meeting include lack of logistics,delays in judicial proceedings at court as well as land and chieftaincy disputes.
