In a revealing discussion on the pressing issue of burnout among Ghanaians, Wellness Life Coach Loyce Fitness, Freeman Sorsis, stated that approximately 80% of the population is experiencing significant levels of fatigue and stress.
This alarming statistic was shared during an interview on the GTV Breakfast Show on Wednesday, July 16, 2025.
Sorsis emphasized the critical need for rest and self-care, asserting that “if you’re not taking the time to rest and recharge, your body will eventually do what it can to bring you back to balance.” He addresses one’s mental and physical health, stating, “The body has a way of sending signals when it’s overwhelmed. Ignoring these signals can lead to serious health issues.”
The coach highlighted that many Ghanaians are caught in a cycle of relentless work and responsibilities, leaving little room for relaxation or personal time. “We live in a society that glorifies busyness. However, it is essential to understand that rest is not a luxury; it is a necessity for our overall well-being,” Sorsis stated.
During the interview, Freeman encouraged Ghanaians to prioritize their health by incorporating regular breaks into their daily routines. “Taking time to rest allows us to recharge and return to our tasks with renewed energy and focus,” he said. “It’s about finding that balance between work and self-care.”
As the conversation unfolded, Sorsis urged Ghanaians to recognize the importance of mental health and to seek support when needed. “If you’re feeling overwhelmed, don’t hesitate to reach out for help. We all need a support system,” he advised.
The discussion concluded with a call to action for individuals and organizations alike to foster environments that promote wellness and encourage rest. “Let’s create a culture where taking breaks is celebrated rather than stigmatized,” Sorsis urged.
