COVID-19: Ghana’s mortality rate stands at 0.5

The Deputy Minister of Health, and MP for Ledzokuku, Dr. Okoe Boye has stated that, Ghana is doing well, when it comes to fight against COVID-19.

He said, the country through its stakeholders are working within the WHO protocols on prevention and management particular, hence “Ghana mortality rate deducing from the statistics is 0.5%”.

This he submitted, means for every 1000 cases of Covid-19, Ghana could record 5 deaths, “although COVlD-19 death is regretteble and unfoftunate, it is important to note that Ghana’s covid-19 death rate remains one of the lowest in the world”.

The Deputy Minister made this known on the Floor of Parliament on 20th July, 2020 on Ghana’s COVID-19 situation.

He emphasized that the more efficient the management of COVID-19 in a country, the lower the mortality rate.

Dr. Okoe Boye outlined Ghana’s Covid-19 management and strategy as follows:

1. Stop or limit the importation of the virus.

2. Limit community spread.

3. Provide adequate care for the sick.

4. Limit the adverse social and economic effects of the pandemic on citizens and

5. Build our local capacity in all areas to reduce our dependence on foreign countries.

Ghana’s total case count as at 21st of July 2020 stood at 28,989.
