The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has hinted of possible inaccuracies in the reporting of COVID-19 cases by private laboratory operators.

According to the Association, some private lab operators do not provide data on coronavirus cases to the national database on time.

To this end, the General Secretary of the Association, Dr. Justice Yankson has called on private lab operators to avoid suppressing data on the cases. He said accurate and timely data will help greatly in the fight against the pandemic.

Dr. Yankson welcomed the decision by President Akufo-Addo for the Police and other security agencies to get the public to comply with COVID-19 safety protocols.

On the issue of schools reopening at a time when the new strain of the virus has been confirmed in Ghana, Dr. Yankson said the focus should be on adhering to the protocols in all educational institutions.
