The Ministry of Health has postponed the Centralised Nursing and Midwifery Licensing Examinations to 4 September 2025.

The decision follows a consultative meeting with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and the Conference of Heads of Health Training Institutions (COHHETI).

In a press release signed by Tony Goodman, Deputy Director and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, the ministry said the examinations will now be conducted in the respective training institutions rather than at centralised locations, reverting to a previous practice. This change, it explained, is to ensure smooth participation and effective supervision by the NMC.

The directive was made after careful consideration of the risks associated with extensive travel by students to designated centres.

Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, said the measure was necessary to safeguard the safety and well-being of candidates while ensuring fairness and proper monitoring of the examinations.

“It is not proper for students to travel from one region to another to sit for examinations,” he stressed.

He assured stakeholders that the ministry will provide the necessary logistics to ensure the successful implementation of the directive.

The NMC will issue a revised timetable and detailed guidelines in due course. The ministry expressed appreciation for the cooperation and understanding of all candidates, training institutions, and stakeholders.
